Heartbreak

Ah, My Tears!
Flow! Flow! Flow unhindered!
Run your course along the mounds of my swollen cheek
Rinse away the toxins stockpiled in my skull
Add taste to me by your salty content
Let your fall break my brokenness
That I may find healing

Ah, Pain!
Carve it deep on my heart
That I may never forget
Narrow my eyes
That my vision may be sharpened

Ah, emotions!
Bleed! Bleed!
That Life may flow out of me

And pulse in my words

In this poem, I preserve the memory of a painful break up

Well, the Biblical echoes are concentrated here.
The salt seas of Marah, the bitterness to be faced and turned sweet.
The hardened heart--as in Henry Vaughan-- to be melted.
Even Donne..."Batter my heart three-personed God": only by breaking can man be made whole.
Even Christ, whose "fall" became his resurrection and mankind's.
A nice Divine Love Poem.
And outside the Christian...it works on a secular emotional level too.
